Item looks like it is from the 1950's or 60's. These pails were designed to stock or take fish from remote ponds in the wilderness where accessibility was difficult. Pail is galvanized metal. Has two leather straps for carrying on back. Can also has contour of the human body for comfort. Pail has lid on top that is hinged with air vents for fish. Lid also has a holding area where fish can be put prior to entering tank. Fish can also be measured with scale located on lid. See photos..
Tank also has two ports that can let in water or drain water at different levels. The name Maurer is stamped across the hinged door.
Tank is 17" long x 12 1/2" tall. Tank appears to be in excellent condition. Leather straps are showing some mildew and should clean up. Straps could use some leather softener. Over all condition is very good.
